The Women Achieving Goals (WAG) Retreat this past weekend inspired me more than I expected. Having a quiet, beautiful home with spectacular views of the ocean and nature all around, created a space for women to ground, relax, be nurtured and reflect on the life they desire.
Getting out of our routines is hard. Making a commitment to ourselves is often the only way to get away from the routines that bind us. Even after a retreat, it is challenging not to fall back into old ways of being in our lives. We want change, but change is never easy. Change takes courage and commitment.
During the weekend, I observed women clear their thinking, discover who they are at their core and from that awareness, define the next cycle of their lives. As each woman began to uncover and know her heart’s desire, she also became aware of all the reasons why she feels she cannot have her dreams.
Through meditation, reflection, communication with other women, each one found a way out of the thoughts that get in her way. Discovering the concepts that we hold that talk us out of our vision, is the primary purpose for the WAG Retreats. We are used to our own thinking and may not realize that we are sabotaging our dreams.
Women becoming aware, knowing her heart’s desire then seeing how she can have that in her life, is the reason I started these retreats sixteen years ago. Women are by nature, hard-working, responsible, nurture others, and more. That focus is difficult to stop and create time to go within and understand who we are at our core. We lose awareness of ourselves with so much of our attention outside ourselves.
At the end of the weekend, the women felt connected to themselves, understood what they wanted in the next cycle of their life and had a plan to get there. They were inspired by each other and their female creative energy. Now the challenge becomes, going back home without going back into the familiar routine.
To support each woman in this transition, we stay in communication in a number of ways. Being in contact with other women from the WAG community, helps them focus on creating the life they desire rather than their lot in life.
The 2017 Annual WAG Retreat will be inland near a ranch, hugging trees, so that women have the option of working with an Equis Coach (work with horses) to learn more about who we are at our core.
